Organic Women Winemaker Tour 2.0
We're pretty much head over heels here! Please join us in welcoming five of the most rockstar female, organic winemakers from Italy and Napa Valley, co-teaching Sunday School on January 24! This will be a very special class led by Antonella Bronca of Sorelle Bronca Prosecco in the Veneto, Matilde Poggi of Le Fraghe Bardolino in the Veneto, Cecilia Naldoni of Grifalco Aglianico del Vulture in Basilicata, Angela Fronti of Istine Chianti Classico in Tuscany and hometown hero Jill Matthiasson of Matthiasson in Napa Valley.
These bright women are influencing the present and future of organic wine as well as the way we as salespeople and consumers talk about--and drink--sustainability-minded wine. In class, we'll discuss what it means to practice organic versus have organic certification; which treatments are and aren't allowed; how the certification process differs between the European Union and the United States Department of Agriculture; how you can tell if a wine is made organically; the benefits, opportunities, risks and challenges of making wine organically; and why a winemaker may (or may not) choose to get certified.
Of course, we'll also be drinking organic wines made by each woman while discussing the unique characteristics of their respective regions and local varieties.
These five women first toured the Bay Area together in the summer of 2014 when we had the opportunity to attend their seminar at A16 Rockridge. Their passion for the subject as well as their obvious camaraderie and respect for one another is inspiring--not to mention their wines are fabulous! We hope you join us for this reunion!
Seats are extremely limited and only available online here! Due to the nature of the event and the special wines poured, no cancellations or refunds will be possible. Transfer of seats to another party is possible by emailing us in advance.
