Artist Statement
 
The paintings in this show started the day after the election on November 5, 2024, which is also my birthday. They mark a shift from colorful circles to a monochromatic and textured style. Inspired by city life and decay, they reflect the gritty surroundings of my West Oakland studio. Despite being abstract, they offer various perspectives and compositions, with titles serving as clues or distractions. I've lived in Oakland for 21 years and have degrees in fine art and landscape architecture. Besides painting, I work as a graphic designer.
