Permits, Licenses and Community Supported Agriculture!

If you walk by the shop right now, you'll see two very big, very exciting and very noticeable signs that went up in our window this week. One is a gigantic yellow notice of a public hearing with the City of Oakland Planning Commission, where we'll present our plan to the Planners and answer any questions or concerns they or our community may have about the project. The second is a notice of an application with the Alcoholic Beverage Control to sell alcohol on our premises. We are really proud of and excited for these big steps and are humbled and honored to have so many people coming out to support us!

But what's really fun is that we have found a local CSA to work with! CSA Stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it allows city residents to have direct access to high quality, fresh produce grown locally by regional farmers. When you become a member of a CSA, you're purchasing a “share” of vegetables from a regional farmer. We're supersuperSUPER excited to be working with Capay Valley Farm Shop, a completely amazing organization that offers 100% local, seasonal food direct from their network of over 40 small, family farms.

You can sign up now (or later, or whenever you're ready!) to get a box of seasonal produce delivered weekly to Bay Grape, where we'll pair the week's peak produce with two special recipes and two bottles of wine chosen to go perfectly with the food. Capay Valley Farm Shop offers three different sizes of boxes and is also flexible when it comes to needing to cancel deliveries if, say, you'll be out of town or unable to get your box one week. Beyond that, one of the extra-awesome things about Capay Valley Farm Shop is that their farmers also produce things like eggs, honey, olive oil, chicken… so you can always tack additional tasty treats onto your weekly produce box. Then just stop into our shop to grab your box of deliciousness. How sweet is that?? Please let us know if you'd like to sign up for a CSA box so we can hook you up as soon as we open our doors this summer!
